We work hard here at Klear Systems.  Custom programming, EPR implementations, CRM demos and support calls have our calendars packed and we love it but that doesn't mean we can't make time for a little fun... especially to raise funds and awareness for such a worthy cause.  

After seeing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge catch on and gain momentum in the media, we were honored to be nominated by Sage employee and friend Stephanie Merryweather.

The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association defines ALS as "a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.  Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body.  The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost.  With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed."

ALS is an incredibly debilitating disease and the ALS Association has many stories that help put a name and face with the letters ALS as well as sharing hope in finding treatments and a cure.

We feel privileged to be able to join this cause and represent our industry as one that not only innovates but also gives back and supports the fight against this and other devastating diseases.  
Plus, its August in southern California and we welcome a little cool down.

Although the cause of ALS is not completely understood, a wealth of new scientific understanding regarding the physiology of this disease has been discovered in recent years and with the help of fundraising campaigns like this ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, we hope to help bring awareness as well as medical aid to those suffering and fund the discovery of a cure with our donation to alsa.org.
